Among the 5 series of electric toothbrushes from Oral-Ba, the Pro Series includes the Pro 600 Cross Action, which removes “up to 100% more plaque than a conventional manual toothbrush”. Here is our review…
Presentation
The Oral-B PRO 600 CrossAction is an oscillating-rotating electric toothbrush. Sold for €30, it has the merit of being one of the manufacturer’s least expensive models. If its price is low, its technical sheet is in keeping since this BDE offers only one brushing mode and is only delivered with a single brush head.
Convenience of use
The Oral-B Pro 600 Cross Action is a basic white and blue electric toothbrush, far from the pictorial eccentricities of Soccas Van Gogh.
On the handle, its single button allows you to turn it on and off. It also offers only one mode and one brushing speed. For comparison, the Philips FlexCare Platinum HX9112/02 offers three brushing modes and variable intensity.
A small protrusion at the back of the handle allows the BDE to stand horizontally without falling to the side; this position makes it possible to apply the toothpaste without holding the brush in hand.
There is no indicator showing the state of charge of the battery. Only a small red indicator lights up when the Pro 600 Cross Action battery is almost discharged.
This BDE is delivered without a carrying case, which would have been very practical for taking it with you more hygienically than simply throwing it in the travel bag or a toiletry bag.
The oscillating-rotating technology used here makes it possible to remove dental plaque as well as possible: the round brush head can rotate at 48,800 movements per minute. For comparison, one can expect to perform 200 strokes per minute using a manual toothbrush energetically.
In use
We use this simplicity that characterizes the Pro 600 Cross Action: press a button, and that’s it. We regret that this model does not stop automatically after two minutes – the duration recommended for brushing by specialists. Nevertheless, every 30 s, the brush emits a vibration to warn that it is necessary to change the brushing zone; always a welcome reminder.
Importantly, the Pro 600 Cross Action does not spare the gums and could even make the most sensitive people bleed. Indeed, the brush head’s bristles are hard, and the brush turns very quickly. It all depends on the sensitivity of each, but it could seem brutal to some.
Autonomy
We are quite surprised at the low endurance of the Pro 600 Cross Action. It doesn’t last more than 28 minutes when we spin it in a vacuum.
Counting two brushings of two minutes per day, the Pro 600 Cross Action cannot be used for more than 6 days without recharging. We are far from the 35 days of autonomy of the Oclean Air 2 …
When the BDE is placed on its charging base, a green indicator light confirms the charging. However, we do not have any information indicating that it is fully charged.
Noise
With 63 dB(A) measured at 10 cm away, the Oral-B Pro 600 Cross Action is not the noisiest toothbrush in our comparison but is far from silent.
We attach great importance to this criterion since it is a body care device used especially in the morning and whose noise can be irritating.
CONCLUSION
The Oral-B Pro 600 Cross Action is a simple and practical BDE, but these are its only qualities. This rudimentary model is not very recommendable because of its low autonomy and the total absence of functions. For a similar price, the Essential B Pulse Confort offers more options.
