Review: Anker Magnetic 10K (633) Magnetic Battery (MagGo)- 10,000mAh Foldable Wireless Portable Charger, 20W USB-C Power Delivery for iPhone 14/14 Pro / 14 Pro Max, iPhone 13/12 Series

Anker is back with an upgraded MagSafe battery, the Magnetic 633, boasting an impressive 10,000 mAh capacity, double that of its 5,000 mAh predecessor. In addition to the significant capacity boost, this model offers a range of other appealing features.

Introduction:

Building on the success of their 5K model, Anker introduces the larger Magnetic 633 MagSafe battery with a substantial 10,000 mAh capacity. Just like its predecessor, it features MagSafe technology, allowing it to magnetically attach to the back of iPhone 12 series devices. This makes it a practical on-the-go power bank, offering an alternative to Apple’s own MagSafe battery.

Design and Build:

The Magnetic 633 retains a similar form factor to the previous model, albeit slightly thicker due to the increased capacity. Its weight, at 218 g, is notably heavier, which might make the combination with an iPhone, like the 14 Pro Max, somewhat unwieldy at around 500 g. Anker has moved from a more innovative stand design to a conventional one, which may disappoint users who appreciated the stability and uniqueness of the previous version.

Connectivity and Charging:

Like the 5K model, the Magnetic 633 requires a USB-C port for charging and another USB-A port for powering devices other than iPhones or recharging the battery itself. Remaining battery levels are indicated using four LEDs.

Battery Life and Performance:

With a nominal capacity of 10,000 mAh at 3.7 V (which translates to 7,812 mAh at 4.7 V), actual performance is impressive, offering around 7,000 mAh of usable capacity. This translates to approximately two full charges for an iPhone 14 Pro and almost one and a half charges for a Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

Charging Speed:

Fully recharging the Magnetic 633 takes around 160 minutes, 10 minutes less than its 5K counterpart, thanks to the support for 20 W charging.

Power Delivery:

The upgraded model provides more power than the 5K version, capable of delivering up to 20 W through its USB-C port and 18 W through its USB-A port. The USB-C port can deliver 5 V/3 A or 9 V/2.22 A, totaling a maximum of 19.98 W, while wireless charging offers 7.5 W. However, it’s worth noting that the wireless charging capacity falls a bit short, given that iPhones with MagSafe compatibility can handle up to 15 W.

Compatibility and Conclusion:

Anker’s Magnetic 633 is a step up from its 5K predecessor, offering a more substantial capacity and efficient performance. Its 20 W USB-C port makes it suitable for a wide range of portable devices, though it’s unfortunate that it lacks compatibility with Power Delivery technology. Nevertheless, it remains a reliable and efficient portable battery, especially ideal for charging iPhones.
